Favorite First Toys | The Snooze Fest by Jayne Havens, Certified Sleep Consultant

You bring your baby home from the hospital and spend the first month or two in a crazy daze of feeding, diaper changes and brief stretches of sleep. It’s exhausting!! There’s so little time for actual play. At some point (hopefully in the very near future) you will emerge from the haze and feel ready to play! Here are some of my favorite first toys:

Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes Musical Toy
Both of my children were mesmerized by this toy. With one press of the button the music box plays three different tunes. My kids loved to press that button mid-song cueing it to move along to the next tune. We would keep one at home, and an extra in the diaper bag. I never left home without it!

Sassy Peek-a-Boo Activity Book
My kids loved crinkly books as babies. They loved chewing on the pages, hearing the crinkling noise, and just having something soft and colorful to hold onto. There are so many of these books out there. I like the ones that come with a detachable ring. We would attach them to the stroller, the play mat etc.

Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat
My sweet nephew is 3 months and LOVES this chair. This is especially great if your baby has an older sibling around. The older sibling can play while the baby watches in amazement!

Tiny Love Black & White Gymini Deluxe Infant Activity Play Mat, Magical Tales
Activity mats are an absolute essential for little babies. It’s a safe place for your baby to play, and if you place your baby on their belly they will strengthen their neck, arm and back muscles which is super important for infant development. Pick one that has loops for interchangeable toys to hang from above so your baby doesn’t get bored of seeing the same things overhead!
